With inflation continuing to go higher and higher and causing prices to continue going up, what are couples supposed to do when they want to go out on a date? I decided to take a look at fifty different ideas that you may consider when going on a date so that you can save money. Some are easier than others but most are things you should consider when planning a date.
1.) Go for a walk
Simple and easy.
2.) Go for a bike ride
This does obviously require bikes to make it work.
3.) Cook your special someone dinner
If you are buying the food, you can make the date cheap,
4.) Go to the cheap movie theater in town
Avoid the $10 a ticket at the expensive theater and find the movies that are about to go to rentals.
5.) Play basketball
Finding shoes and a basketball are not exactly overly expensive.
6.) Go for a run
Easy but make sure you are in shape or it might end up ugly.
7.) Rent a movie from the library
If movie rentals are too expensive for you, try the library. Free is a good deal.
8.) Read in a book store
Staying busy in a book store can give you plenty of time to hang out.
9.) Work together to make dinner for someone
Make someone else dinner!
10.) Volunteer together
Find something both of you are interested in.
11.) Make your date pay for the meal/activity
At least you are saving money, right?
12.) Go for a hike
Find a forest or a mountain to hike to.
13.) Attend a free concert
If you look hard enough, there are a ton of free concerts.
14.) Find a museum
Look for special days at museums that offer lower prices.
15.) Go swimming
The cost to swim is not very expensive if you find a nice place.
16.) Play tennis
Buy some rackets at a garage sale and compete in this fun game.
17.) Go to brunch
Brunch is much cheaper than dinner so definitely consider it.
18.) Take that special someone out to eat for fast food
Not one that I would really support but it is definitely a way to save money.
19.) Use coupons when getting food
If you are using this one, don’t pull it out on the first date.
20.) Go ice skating
You can have a great time ice skating but try to avoid injuries/doctor bills
21.) Go to a minor league sporting event
Instead of spending hundreds on a pro sporting event, go to a minor league team in the area.
22.) Take him or her to happy hour
You can get that special someone drunk for a lower price than normal!
23.) Have a picnic
You get to pack the food and enjoy a great time in the outdoors.
24.) Lay out and get some sun
You can’t beat the price of free
25.) Listen to guest speakers
Again, check the local newspaper online and see if there are any speakers
26.) Play board games
What better than dominating your date in a game of Monopoly?
27.) Give each other massages
It may not be the best massage in the world but it is well priced.
28.) Go out for coffee
Taking a date out for coffee is much cheaper than dinner.
29.) Take a class together
Try a dance or cooking class to keep things interesting.
30.) Immerse yourself in the beauty of a local college campus
Walk around a college campus close to your home and relive the glory days.
31.) Watch the stars at night
Take a blanket, go outside, and watch the stars. That sounds like my kind of date.
32.) Go to a restaurant that doesn’t offer steak/lobster/wine/anything expensive
If they don’t offer anything expensive, your date can’t order it.
33.) Take him or her to your work
Show your date your workplace and let them get a better feel for what you do.
34.) Have your parents come in assumption that they will pay the bill
Again, at least you are saving money.
35.) Go to garage sales
If you can trick someone into this being a date, more power to you.
36.) Play in the snow
Build a snowman and have fun in the snow.
37.) Visit open houses
Maybe you are not ready to buy a house but look for that dream house down the road.
38.) Play at a playground
There are a ton of playgrounds that would make it fun, despite how much you have grown.
39.) Walk around a public garden
Most offer free days if you look hard enough. Plus the flowers are beautiful!
40.) Visit a historical site
Every city has a claim to fame. Just find it and visit it.
41.) Go out just for dessert
Eat dinner at home and then go out for dessert for fun!
42.) Rent a new Wii game
You need a Wii to begin with (Or you can borrow one) but playing a game would make a fun date.
43.) Go to the zoo
Can you beat a date where you see all kinds of different animals?
44.) Go bowling
Bowling is cheap and fun. Why not?
45.) Fly a kite
It may be more fun for others but it is something to consider.
46.) Hit some golf balls
Hitting golf balls at the range is cheaper than playing 18 holes by a great deal.
47.) Find a friend with a boat you can use
This might be tough but if you find a friend with a boat, talk him or her into taking you and your date out.
48.) Go to an art show
Again, find a free art show that you can walk around at.
49.) Put a puzzle together
Work together with your date to master a puzzle.
50.) Rent a rowboat
Might as well stay busy on the lake/river in your area and get some exercise.
